ISICAD working group

The ISICAD working group is a strongly consolidated 5-staff team with background in IT and agriculture in rural Africa, Asia and Latin America.

ISICAD offers a range of services in knowledgemenagement, IT and communication in support of rural and agricultural development and international agricultural research including database development. 

ISICAD specialised in the collaborative development of adapted solutions for improved information and communication management and assists partners during conception, development, implementation, training and networking. 

All ISICAD solutions are developed using open source software exclusively.  This allows solutions to be shared with other partners and provides the necessary flexibility for adaptation of solutions upon request.  In return, sharing of solutions contributes to the improvement and enlargement of system. Software and data are generally considered public good.

ISICAD is based at Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE). BLE is a German institution under public law, directly sub-ordinate to the Federal Government and empowered to conduct business on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV). The BLE is the agency responsible for the Common Market Organizations, within the European Union, for a wide range of foodstuffs, where it is active in matters of market intervention, private storage and financial aid.
